Affiliate disclosure: we may earn a commission when you buy through some of our links, at no extra cost to you. It never changes what we recommend.

Affiliate disclosure

The short version: some links earn us a commission, it costs you nothing extra, and it doesn't decide what we recommend.

What an affiliate link is

Some links to retailers on this site carry a tracking code. If you click one and buy something, the retailer pays us a percentage of the sale. The price you pay is identical whether you use our link or go to the site directly.

This is how HappyGutFuel is funded. There's no subscription, no paywall and no advertising, so affiliate commission is what pays for the domain, the hosting and the time.

Which links

Affiliate links are marked in the page code with rel="sponsored nofollow", which is the standard signal to search engines. Every page carrying them shows the disclosure banner at the top, before you read anything, rather than buried at the bottom.

Links to research papers, regulators, the NHS and other publications are never affiliate links.

What commission does not do

Where a cheaper option is better, we say so, even where the cheaper option pays less or nothing at all. Several things we recommend — eating more plants, buying kefir in a supermarket — earn us nothing whatsoever.

Our own product

We're developing a fibre product called HappyGutFuel Daily. It isn't on sale yet. When it is, it will be identified as our own product everywhere it appears, and it won't displace an existing recommendation without us explaining why.

Programmes we're part of

We intend to participate in the Amazon EU Associates Programme, an affiliate advertising programme designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.co.uk. This page will be updated with any further programmes as we join them.

Questions

If anything here is unclear, or you think a link isn't properly disclosed, tell us on the contact page and we'll fix it.
